When bullets pass through the body, the wound track determined at autopsy can often be helpful in determining how the victim was positioned when he was shot.
This illustration shows how one bullet passed through the torso and a second bullet passed through the left forearm. This information alone is of limited use, but when combined with other evidence found at the crime scene and witness statements, it was determined that he was shot while aiming a rifle at the shooter.
