Guy Pierce has over 25 years of crime scene investigation experience.

His career began as police officer with the Albuquerque Police Department in New Mexico where he served for 21 years.

He worked in the field as a uniformed officer for 3 years - half of that time working as a field investigator; specializing in evidence collection and documentation.

 He then transferred to the Criminalistics Section  where he worked as a detective for 14 years as a member of the Major Crime Scene Team; doing major crime scene investigations related to homicides, officer involved shootings, and suspicious deaths. 

In addition to his work on the Major Crime Scene Team, he trained and worked as a finger print examiner for 6 years and as a firearm and tool mark examiner for 8 years.

He was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Criminalistics Section, supervising the Major Crime Scene Team, the Fingerprint Identification Unit and the Questioned Document Unit.  He worked in that capacity for 4 years, until retirement.

He retired from the police department in December 2001 and has worked as a consultant since then.

He has been qualified in courts as an expert in:

  • Crime scene reconstruction
  • Bloodstain pattern analysis
  • Fingerprint examination and identification
  • Firearm and tool mark identification
  • Footwear identification

He is a member of:

  • The International Association for Identification
  • The International Association for Bloodstain Pattern Analysts
  • The Association for Crime Scene Reconstruction
